We just released a social media post talking about the Pomodoro Technique and it got me thinking. It’s all well and good giving you a productivity tip like this, but you really need to be able to time yourself during your use of this. And what’s the best way to do that? Using Google as a timer, believe it or not.
So, for example. Let’s say you needed a timer for 25 minutes to do the Pomodoro Technique. All you need to do is open a new browser window and search timer 25 minutes. This works for any amount of time and the best thing is, if you try to close the window, you will be warned first. So no losing your timer through thoughtlessness.
These timers can be set up on your desktop, tablet or phone. Nothing to install. Easy to use. What more do you need?
And for those of you who are unaware of the Pomodoro Technique, it works like this:
- Set a timer for 25 minutes. Work without stopping.
- Take a 5 minute break.
- Every third break, take 20 minutes to refresh yourself.
Simple, isn’t it? So what are you waiting for? Combine the Pomodoro Technique and Google’s built in timer and watch your productivity and quality of work explode!
