Job Interview Toolkit For Introverts

Job interviews are stress inducing. Just knowing that those people sat in front of you, asking inane questions, have the power to change your life. It’s scary. Luckily there are plenty of job interview toolkits out there to help you refine the process. But what if you’re an introvert? What if just the thought of having to sit and answer questions is terrifying to you?

Before we go any further, let me clarify. By introvert I don’t mean a shut in, closed to the world. If you are a Howard Hughes level recluse, a job interview toolkit is going to be absolutely no use to you whatsoever.

As the infographic below from cashnetusa shows, a typical introvert can have a number of traits. You can be shy, withdrawn, solitary or reserved. But what you don’t have to be is left behind in the professional world. For instance, did you know that Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, Larry Page and Steven Spielberg all consider themselves to be introverts?

It took me by surprise too. So don’t feel that you are alone out there. Some of the most successful people who ever lived know your struggles. And as an introvert, you have a set of skills that can really put you on the front foot during your interview.

The job interview toolkit infographic below is a really excellent resource for those of us who are more inward facing. It not only gives you ideas and options for what to do during the interview, there is also a part for before your interview and how to follow-up on it after.

So bookmark it. Download it and print it out. Save it to your phone. But use it and make sure you are fully prepared when the time comes.

And if you don’t get the job? Look at it as practise. You did not fail. You learnt something new on the road to success.
