Food misconceptions can be hard to change. No matter what you say, people will still think that “fatty” foods make you fat. While in some cases this can be true (ice cream, fried foods etc), it’s not always the case. Take the infographic below for an example. Although it does not give a complete story of what is happening, it is correct.
Carbs are great if you are going to be expending a lot of energy. Workouts, a hard day at work. Load up early on carbs. However, for most of us, that’s not the case. Sitting in front of a monitor or desk is hardly high energy work.
Whereas, on the other hand, eggs and bacon might have a higher amount of fats. But. Eggs are loaded with healthy monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats. Both bacon and eggs also contain a high percentage of protein, which releases energy more slowly, keeping you fuller for longer. Which has the helpful added benefit of stopping you from snacking.
There is more to our meals than you think. Make sure you make informed choices.
