How to play classic video games in your browser tutorial

We all love a bit of nostalgia. It’s what drives the economy during the holiday season. Think about it, at what other time would you re-watch the same movies, listen to the same songs and eat the same foods again and again? We do it because we are trying to recapture the feeling of being a child again. It brings back the magic to us. It’s the same with classic video games. But to play them, your options are limited. And some of those options are expensive as well.

  1. You can either setup an emulator for each system, which takes time and knowledge. It also means you have to run the legal minefield of finding ROMs.
  2. Or you can buy the original systems, which is super expensive to do. You will also need to buy the games individually, which adds even more effort and cost.
  3. Or you can buy one of the the recently released NES classis consoles from Nintendo, or the SNES classic. Both of which are in short supply, expensive and have limited catalogues.

But there is a fourth way. You can play classic video games in your browser. It’s free and requires no set up. It features games such as Prince of Persia, Street Fighter 2, Donkey Kong and Castle Wolfenstein. As well as a whole host of others.

So where do I go for this gaming utopia? archive.org. They have 1000’s of games for you to play in your browser as you can see from the screenshot below. And the best thing about it is that they are free and completely legal to play. No downloading, no set up, no waiting.
