Everyone has at least heard of torrenting. Heck, most people have at least performed a torrent search. Which usually ends with not knowing which button is the “real” download button, ad injections or even a virus.

But torrenting does not have to be so controversial. Or hazardous to your computer. There are a whole host of sites out there where you can freely and legally download content. And today I am going to give you a list of the best legal torrent sites. You can head over there and torrent search to your heart’s content. Secure in the knowledge that what you are doing is legal. But before we begin, let me also give you a few tips when it comes to searching torrents.

To make sure you stay on the legal side, when you torrent search, make sure you include a few strings in your search. Namely, if you want to search for software, include the terms open source or creative commons. If you are looking for media such as movies or music, add the string public domain. Admittedly, this will not bring you up and newly released media, it will mainly be older shows or independently produced shows. But it will keep you on the straight and narrow.
